A relatively new city in Fulton County, the community of Milton, was only incorporated into Georgia as of December 1, 2006. Named in honor of the former Milton County, which was named in respects to Revolutionary War hero John Milton. As it is adjacent to neighboring busy city Alpharetta, Milton still has a charm about it that has not been touched by city life. With rolling green hills and miles of pastures, the area is known for its equestrian facilities.
Because Milton is so close to Alpharetta, there is still plenty to do a few miles away. Perhaps one of the best attractions near Milton is Avalon, a new shopping and dining destination off of Old Milton Parkway. With tons of shopping (stores include J. Crew, Anthropologie, Pottery Barn, Crate & Barrel, etc.) and restaurants (The El Felix, Bocado Burger, Oak Steakhouse, etc.), Avalon is the perfect place for fun within a reasonable distance of home.
Currently, there are a little over 30,000 residents in Milton. Although there are this large number of people, the city still has that easygoing small town vibe that is so desirable. Popular residential communities in Milton include The Manor, Greystone, White Columns, Kingsley Estates, and Crooked Creek.
